BEHIND THE LENS

My name is Alex. I will the primary photographer for any shoot booked with Studio Cotton. I am a Michigander turned Iowan.

I shot my first roll of film at age 12 with a Minolta Maxxum 7000. My equipment has changed, my photos have gotten better, but my passion is the same. 

 

I started working as a photojournalist in 2006. I have held several positions at Michigan newspapers including photo and design editor positions at my high school and at Michigan Technological University.  



I started offering professional portrait shoots with the launch of Studio Cotton in 2008. My photojournalism background has given me a more natural shooting style than most portrait photographers. I believe in capturing the true emotion of my subjects. It is my job to anticipate your moments and capture them.
